Before the New York police can question photographer Cass Neary about a mysterious death she was involved with in Maine, she accepts a job in Finland - far away from her troubles in the US. In Helsinki, she authenticates a series of disturbing yet beautiful images taken by a reclusive fashion photographer who has distanced himself from the violent Nordic music scene where he first made his reputation. But his mutilated body is found soon after her visit - and Cass is inexorably drawn into a dangerous criminal underworld.
