Kenneth Fleming, England's star batsman, is dead of asphyxiation, dead because someone wanted him to die. But when Scotland Yard is called in, Inspector Lynley and Detective Sergeant Havers are surprised to find themselves confronted by an almost embarrassing multitude of suspects.
