Nicola Ferris, on leave in Crete from her job as a secretary in Athens, faces, for the first time in her life, a man and a situation she cannot deal with. She stumbles upon a scene of private vengeance - a vendetta involving two young Englishmen and a group of people tied together by blood and greed.
