A good dog's guide to murder

Wagtail, Virginia resident Orly Biffle bequeathed the land for the new convention centre to the town in his will, provided that they not cut down the grand old oak tree on the property leaving a bitter taste in Orly's children mouths. During a dog and cat gingerbread house contest the tree is deemed dangerous and bulldozed, revealing a body inside the trunk! Initially, everyone suspects Orly but it becomes clear that someone is keeping the truth under wraps. Now, Trixie and Twinkletoes must help Holly sniff out some suspects and leash a conniving killer.
